The QRI Patient and Family Education Committee has developed a range of patient information materials, which have been developed for the benefit of you and your family. Patient and family education is important for patient and family members to participate more actively in their care plans and helps them make better decisions about their care.
QRI promotes development of educational materials that are specifically developed for people with special needs and functional impairments /disabilities due to their condition or injury. We believe that understanding more about a condition and the treatment will promote better recovery outcomes.
Effective education begins with an assessment of the patient and family’s learning needs. This assessment determines not only what needs to be learned, but also how the learning can best occur.
Learning is most effective when it suits an individual’s learning preferences, religious and cultural values, and reading and language skills, and when it occurs at appropriate points in the care process.
Below are educational materials listed in different categories:
1. General wellness
2. Preventive measures
3. Condition / therapy/ procedure specific
4. Adult and pediatric population
If you have any questions about following any of the education materials, please talk to your doctor or therapist for advice.
